The porcupine is a small creature, but it can cause great damage to large animals or even people. Equipped with extremely tough fur, these rodents are practically untouchable and are not the type of prey that a predator would want to chew on. Some even tried, but unfortunately they didn’t get a pleasant experience. And in this video you will see 5 moments in which snakes got hurt when trying to eat or bother a porcupine. Here we go!
Many snakes are known to have highly lethal venoms capable of killing with just a single bite. However, some animals are immune to snake venom, and the hedgehog is one of them. Even if he were not immune, it would be extremely difficult for a venomous snake to sink its fangs into the animal’s skin, as its body is completely covered in spines. In this video a snake thought it could bite a hedgehog without getting hurt. She watches that big thorny ball for a while until at a certain point it bites the hedgehog. The bite clearly must have had no effect, at least for the hedgehog! The snake watches, without understanding what actually happened! Soon after, she leaves.
This hedgehog was doing what many animals love to do, which is eat. In his search for food he comes across a snake. The snake makes it very clear that it will not be anyone’s meal, attacking the hedgehog with several attacks. But it wasn’t enough to stop him from devouring her.
NUMBER 3. PITON SNAKE SWALLOWS PORCUPINE
Swallowing a porcupine whole was the worst decision this snake could have made in its life. Although his life ended right there! Pythons are those of enormous size that do not have venom and kill their prey by coiling and squeezing until they asphyxiate them. That’s what this African python did, but with an uninteresting prey. A cyclist who was hiking through one of the reserves in South Africa came across a very bloated snake, which appeared to have swallowed something very large. The first impression it gives is that she had swallowed a wild boar or a baby antelope. Six days later, the reserve guards found her dead and decided to open her to see what she had actually eaten. And after opening the animal, guess what… a porcupine weighing almost 14 kilos. It was then that they discovered why the snake had died, and you probably already know, right.
NUMBER 4. BOA GOT BAD
This video recorded right here in Brazil shows a boa snake with its body covered in spines after attacking a hedgehog. As it is a constrictor snake, that is, it kills its prey by coiling and squeezing until it asphyxiates, its method of killing ended up not working against a hedgehog, and as a result its body was left almost completely with spines.
NUMBER 5. EATING THE SNAKE
Maybe you thought that the hedgehog only fed on fruits, leaves and shoots, which it normally finds high in trees, but its diet also consists of worms, spiders, slugs, centipedes, ants, beetles, bees and many other insects. And the snake too!
